This prehistoric site has been in use for thousands of years. The Stone monument was constructed about 2500-1500BC. The largest stones are Sarsen stones, brought from the Marlborough Downs 19miles away. The smaller Bluestones were brought from further afield, the Preseli Mountails in Wales (240miles).
