Nice picture with fine colors - she sky was ideal for photographing. The only drawback is the turrets of the Panna Marie pred Tynem church cut out from the picture.

adma,
You are right. I did this on purpose as I wanted to have the picture straight. I wanted to show the cobbled pavement, the church is less important.

I understand you Marianne very well. I often feel the limits of my lens and have to decide what to cut out from the view. Now, when I try to go a bit deeper into photography I begin to realise what a perfect device our eye is and how many imperfections there are in optical instruments, such as cameras.

Marianne/Adam, the object is obviously the the horse-coach and perhaps then the turrets should be cropped even more and not just-a- bit? [4.3]

Rudi The object isn't the carriage, nor is it the church, This whole series has the title: Cobblestones and patterns. It is all about the pavements in Prague, all 8 photos. (will be a slide show soon)

Must admit I didn't pay any attention to the pavements when in Prague. Thanks Marianne for pointing to it - they're really great. I especially like your photo with the pavement in front of the Spanish Synagogue.

the pavements on the square are of more than decorative interest. near the old town hall across from the Hus monument, 27 white crosses are walked over daily by hordes of tourists without notice. these commemorate 27 protestants variously hung and beheaded depending on social class in 1621? following their defeat at the battle of white mountain which ended the first phase of the thirty year war. their executions led to many protestants fleeing prague and ultimately the catholic habsburg takeover.

Very well done.
There is a further echo of the thirty years war (ended 1650) murmuring among the cobbles here. In 1652 a column was erected by whose shadow falling on a marked line in the cobbles, noon in Prague was determined. Destroyed in 1918, a restored brass insert in the cobbles marks the path since 1992; http://www.globosapiens.net/horourke/picture-latin-and-czech-21660.html (Nico commented also on this photo)
Controversy still surrounds the proposed restoration of the 1652 Marian tower and a modern plaque in the cobbles marking its site has had the reference to restoration chipped away by protesters.
What amazes me about Prague is the wealth of surviving 14th century art in the context of the whirling conflict of ideas of which this city was sometimes a vortex.
