This is a wonderful museum loaded with historic artifacts. The star exhibit is Charlemagne's golden head with his cranium inside it. The crown on the head is the real crown that Charles IV wore when he was crowned King of France.
There are many more crowns in the collection; the little crown belonging to Margaret of York who married Charles of Burgundy.
The Persephone Sarcophagus which held Charlemagne's body is one of the first things you see when you enter.
Downstairs beautiful religious garments are on display, a blue chausable, ta coronation cope. On the top floor there are more reliquaries, icons, statues, chalices and also several illuminated manuscripts.
