The Oude Kerk, or old church, is a Dutch reformed church dating back to 13th century. Already during construction works its 75-m high tower began to tilt because the foundations were sinking deeper into the soft soil. The tower now leans a staggering 2 m out of line.
Noteworthy is the 16th century carved pulpit and memorila stones of Dutch celebrities such as naval heroes Piet Hein and Maarten Tromp, the delft-born painterJohannes Vermeer and physisist Anthony van Leeuwenhoek.
