In 1966 District Six was designated a white area and by 1982 60,000 black and coloures we displaced and the land cleared. This museum tries to peice together the memories that saw apartheid in the modern era. There are examples of houses that were destroyed and street signs. As you enter the museum you walk across a map of the area and a mural on the back wall which is entitiled 'No matter where we are, we are here!
