Oh my gosh, I don't know where to start. As an Orthodox Christian, who has fasted for 40 days in preparation for the Nativity, I am being instructed to abandon my religious beliefs because someone else waged war? Is Christ Mass (Christmas is a Mass for Christ) now a political event or a celebration to be had only by the just. Churches, Temples, Synagogues and other places of worship should be viewed as hospitals for sinners; not sanctuaries for saints. If only the rightous could enter, they would be empty, wouldn't they?
Next, I am an American - does that automatically make me a bad person? Am I guilty by association for having been born here (something I had no choice over). Like many Americans, I didn't vote for George Bush. He won by the narrowest of margins. Also like many Americans, I don't believe in this war. The Americans I know do not view the US as all powerful or God like. Yet the US is the first place people look to when something like the Tsunami hits. My son will start his 2 year committment to the Peace Corp in July - another BAD AMERICAN - he will volunteer his time to do CAD drawings of infrastructure in rural China rather than starting his career in engineering. Comments like the ones posted here make me wonder just how safe he will be, a young man out in a world that expresses such hatred of people they don't even know.
I am beyond offended.
