Frankfurt am Main - Germany, Hessen plaque for Carl Schurz at the wall of Frankfurt Paulskirche: 'born 1829-03-02 in Liblar, died 1906-05-14 in New York - fighter for freedom and human dignity'. Schurz was an insurgent during the revolution of 1848/49. Later he lived as a general, newspaper publisher and statesman in the United States.

It's difficult to speak of the 'German' revolution because Germany didn't yet exist then. There was a revolutionary movement in some German states, e.g. here, where I live, in Baden.
