Hi Mike,
Many thanks for your kind comments to my report. I really had a great time on Madagascar. It is a wonderful place. People are the best! About Iovanina - yeah, you know what? I did not take pictures of her. I do not even know how this happened!!
Kindest regards

Hey thanks for the info. I appreciate it. Do you think that the blossom season has changed with " Global warming" ? If I recall in the nineties the season was slightly later! Or maybe I was drinking too much sake and its a bit blury!

ferry kuta

My message may not have been very clear, I meant the ferry from Padangbai to Lombok, as far as I know there is no ferry from kuta to Lovina. Transport to Lovina is easy, don t use the tourist transit bus, unless you want to be in company of and assorted bunch of tourists.
Actually I do think it is important who the owner of a hotel or homestay is, if they are from Bali, in this case, it means that the money flows back into the Bali economy. In my opinion this is important, that is why I always try to stay with local people.

Lovina beach hotel is not the high end of the market. It is very modest and so are the prices. It is owned by Balinese people so all money flows back into the local economy. Most hotels in Kuta are owned by people from Java, even small guest houses, so do a bit of research before you go.
Padang bai is also very nice, it is on the east side of the island, the place where the ferries for Lombok leave.

The map of Bali is perfect, it shows all important places. We stayed in Lovina Beach Hotel which I can recommend.
