Boris,
I admire your esthetic and artist taste! As an example, your Stern Grove leaves, or a cool pic you have taken through a fence. You have a terrific eye - I always enjoy looking at your photos.
Thanks for kind words - means a lot coming from you!

Snow in Yosemite
Posted: 2007-02-05 03:11 AM
Boris,
I thought of you as I headed up past Groveland! The snow in the valley had come and gone - you could see where is had been, and there are some patches still. Happy Isles has some snow that has stuck and there is some on the mountians but not much. The falls were the dryest I have ever seen, even in October. I fly to Vegas every other week and there is not much pack in the mountians. I think we are in for a drought!
All the same, it was beautiful!

Transporting material to build Tiger's Nest

Hi Boris,
I just told Mortimer that the monks had to go down the rockface nearly vertical to transport the buildingmaterial .

Paro, Tiger's Nest
Posted: 2007-01-19 03:19 AM
Hi Boris,
it sits on a cliff 900 m above the floor of the Paro valley over 3000 m above sea level. The Guru flew to the site on the back of a tigress to meditate in a cave. It was recognized as a holy place and must have been there before 1646. You also can reach it from above. The trail is said to be very steep. A fire destroyed the temple in 1998. To transport the buildingmaterial for the reconstruction a cable was installed on the opposite side. But originally The material had to be brought down from above. I think only believers could undertake such a task.

Hi Boris,
thank you for your comment. It was a wonderful day and I was so excited to reach the point from where I could see the temple.

koalas

koalas are endangered and seeing them in wild is rare , at least without going to much into the forest, there are places where you can go and see them in natural environment, they are most active in dusk and dawn , coming to the ground and changing trees or chasing females for breeding purposes.

dingo's and other species
Posted: 2006-12-31 07:37 PM
hi Boris, yes, australians are allowed to keep dingos but they're required lot of space and freedom, as well as knowledge about them (they will be always wild) -, basicaly only in huge outback farms dingos are popular, not allways domesticated but as friendly dog which show up from time to time for food, however feeding dingos is not suggested(unless its yours) as they can get too 'friendly' in demanding food, often hunting for young sheep or chicken. ps. happy New Year.

Wishing you a special and prosperous New Year!
