Re: Spain and the next big adventure
Posted: 2006-03-26 11:11 PM
Hi Gloria,
I really enjoyed reading your report.
Yes, I can't wait to head to Spain.
Re meeting up with fellow globies, I don't know about you but I hate having firm plans when I travel so I will have to see.
If I can catch up it will be pretty impromptu. Jorge is in Barcelona and I have no hope of getting up towards that area so thats a definate "can't do". I will be in Madrid so maybe Isaac or Jesus as they live in there.
But we will have to see.
Can't wait for more of your reports and pics.
Cheers,
Kerrie
PS David has been a really big help in giving me advice on the best parts to see in the limited time that I have.

Favorite books

Hi Gloria,
that:s a difficult question because my interests changed from time to time during my lifetime, except I am always involved in studies of our past - Jewish history and the Holocaust. I read a lot of travel literature and books about women travellers and women in general, naturally German literature and about German history. Then I started to read analyses of our modern world. And in the moment I am reading books by our new pope. And I like detective stories, in the moment it is one by Elizabeth George. When I travel I like to be informed about the history and culture of the country I visit.
Did this answer your question?
Take care. Christl

Midnight sun
Posted: 2006-03-24 10:56 AM
Hei Gloria!
Yes. my photos from Svalbard is an area where you can see the midnight sun.
As you probably know, you need to cross 67,5 degrees north to see the midnight sun. This line crosses Norway at Saltfjellet (Salt mountain) just souht of Bodø.
My recomendation is that you travel to Bodø, (cheap tickets are available from Oslo at www.norwegian.no). From Bodø you can cross the Vestfjorden over to Lofoten, which is really beautilful in summer.
If you need any more help, please let me know!

I have Olympus C-50 zoom, good but not excellent. I use this for 'quick' photos.
My other one is: Canon EOS 250D (SLR), but it is far bigger than the pocket one, therefore it takes some time to get it out of its case and have it ready to shoot.
I can recommens EOS 250D, also very consumer friendly
