The magic of one instant
Posted: 2008-09-11 11:48 AM
Hi Hugh!
Please excuse my late answer on your kind comment in my guestbook; I've been 'on tour' for a couple of days.
Well, I think I'm able to understand, that most people do not like 'composed pictures' - it has something of a imitation. Even so I do agree with you. (By the way: The picture has not been edited! The sky has been finished (not careful enough) separately with Photoshop - thats why you can see the white spots).
Again: Thanks a lot for your kind words, take care,
Christian

Hi Hugh,
Thanks so much for the nice comments....that means a lot to me coming from you. The Alsace is one of my all time favorite places and I'm glad I can share some of its beauty.
Last night I was looking at some of davidx's photos and came upon "Ghost?" I looked at it, laughed, then read your diplomatic comment on it and laughed harder. I thanked David on his absurd photo and now thank you for your witty comment. It's good that not all photos are taken too seriously!
Hope you're having a glorious day in Ireland!

Ambassador for Ireland

Hugh,
You are such a great Ambassador for Ireland - your slide show is just beautiful! What a wonderful day it must have been. I envy the angler - it is a wonderful thing to have an excuse to sit on one place for a while and just enjoy.

Desert!
Posted: 2008-08-12 04:51 AM
Hugh,
Thank you so much for your comments on my slideshow and on my report! I feel so in love with the desert. Prior to this my only experience of the desert was California's Palm Desert and the desert wilderness around the Grand Canyon. I was amazed at how different the Sahara was. I feel so fortunate to have been able to share it with my son!

A big HI from Austria

Hi Hugh, many thanks for your entry and comment to my picture. I have just seen your pictures from Killarney and especially the ones from the lakes taken outside the Lake Hotel..this is my favourite spot in Ireland, I have stayed in this hotel many times. Its a wonderful and so relaxing place! I am travelling back and forth between Cork & Austria since 3 years..I am just home now to enjoy a bit of the summer but going back to Cork in October for 3 month. I think you are living in a wonderful country, I like the people and the lifestyle!!
I can see from your page that you are travelling a lot...for me its one of the most amazing things you can do in life - to see new places, meet all kind of people and get to know new cultures.
All the best & keep up your good work with the pictures!

Liebe Gruesse aus Deutschland

Hello Hugh,
thank you very much for your nice comments about our photos. They help us a lot to learn new English vocables... It's fine that you still have kept good memories of Heidelberg after such a long time. Heidelberg is near my hometown and I studied there. From time to time I must go there and visit it again. I like your photos, too, especially the ones of green Ireland!
Best regards - Petra

From Russia with awe
Posted: 2008-08-02 08:12 AM
Hi,
I am only in Russia to see the total eclipse and meet my friends on their 2 years round the world on the pushbikes honeymoon.
I flew into Siberia. Wow, civilisation seems to avoid this place with passion. Novosibirsk appears to exercise a trick to mock that they are up to speed. But Barnaul and Biysk in Atlayskiy Kray, are at least a decade and a half behind the European part of Russia.
People are generally friendly though and try to be helpful despite a terrible lack of expertise...
