Thanks for viewing the Sri Lankan tea story!
Posted: 2004-11-30 01:13 PM
Hi Syd,
As I mentioned to you there is no problem just walking into the plantations - nobody stopped me, everybody was so friendly and I just took loads of pictures. The tea factories offer free visits (hoping that you will buy their products) and give you a free cup of tea!
English is spoken by most people. Sri Lanka is a former British Colony known then as Ceylon. It also has a very high literacy rate.
Hope this answers your questions?
Cheers, Brit
