I have two or three suggestions, since I have researched taking a trio to Costa Rica, myself. There are for major areas for tourism in the country. Of course, one could visit the capital, San Jose. However, if you rent a car in San Jose, then you can travel to the other areas. They are:

1. La Fortuna/Arenal - The volcano Arenal has been erupting for over 20 years. If you are lucky, you can see some fabulous fireworks from the volcano.

2. Cloud Forest - Tropical rain forest at its best.

3. Beaches/Jaco - There are other towns, but I recommend Jaco.

If you look under "Reports," there is at least one report on La Fortuna. If you look under "Pictures," there is at least one photo of Arenal.
