Andy,
I was trying to add a report on Vashon, Washington, but noticed that the city was not listed on your database. Instead, I made the report on Seattle. Seattle deserves some attention, but Vashon is a separate place. I was surprised that it was not listed, since I have seen numerous other cities that are smaller and in more remote places that have been listed. I understand that it is difficult to keep up with every place in the world, so I am only making a suggestion. Actually, there are two other small cities located on Vashon Island, in addition to Vashon.
By the way, for point of reference, Vashon Island is the largest island and the southernmost island in Puget Sound. It is the home of K2 Skis, one o the top snow skis made in the uNited States.

can you please list the two other cities by name, plus the state? (Washington?).
I will have them included for you. Just let me know the exact spelling and state of those three.
Thanx

Thanks, Andy.
Actually, there are two cities and two villages. I have listed the cities first. Yes, these are located in the state of Washington. The island is about 10 minutes from Tacoma and 20 - 25 minutes from Seattle (by ferry). The names of those towns are:
Vashon
Burton
Dockton
Ellisport
Thanks, again.

Andy,
This would be an old request...(we've discussed this a year ago I think?) but... why cannot members suggest places (like Vashon) and other metadata using a form?
imo this would not be difficult to create and would be a great service for us.
Cheers,

it looks like it is not so difficult in the first place, but becomes difficult if you consider all things efficting it.
I will put some thoughts in it and it might come up in the near future.
Thank you for reminding.

It should not be difficult... it depends on how you do it.
I would suggest having a form pasting new entries in a separate table and then once a week have someone go through the entries to add them to the metadata.
I would script it for you if you let me ;-]
cheers,

thanx for the offer. I will have a local programmer do it since he is familar with the architecture.
Its not that easy as you described it. This is just the surface. There are many more things involved.
Thank you for the suggestion though.

... I know it is not as easy as I describe it... I've been working in IT too long to assume something is as simple as it looks from the front end.
I would like to offer assistance though if you need any. I am starting to get more familiar with php now, although it is not my line of work. (you've seen the scubalog I build I guess? I'll mail you the url for the new dutch website for the MSVN as another example)
Cheers,
Maurice

I've noticed missing towns as well, but can understand how you'd have to leave out many due to size. However, would it be possible to add national park names to the list? Many parks are major spots for tourism - for instance the Grand Canyon in the US, or Cinque Terra in Italy - but are not listed in the database. Just something to think about if you guys do update the system. Thanks for all the hard work!
