Dear Andy –what a wonderful travel community with almost 10,000.00 members.
This has become as my hobby now; -posting photos, reading some great trip reports, giving some high some not high raitings, and learning about our tremendously beautiful
Land we all live in. This is the only travel site I visit now, if I NEED SOME INFORMATION, NOT ONLY FOR TRAVEL, BUT ALSO HOW TO MAKE THAT PERFECT SHUT! Very amazing, isn’t it?
Is 10,000.00 member going to pay for the rest 9,000.00 free one-year membership?
Just kidding!
My Best Wishes with everything
Boris

Hey Andy,
I am a little bit late for congratulations (actually 10393 members / I just returned from Crete), but I also want to put my oar in: It's your baby and you're walking on the road to success - keep on! And I am looking forward to have a party when we reach member 100.000 - the first beer barrel will be mine...
By the way: The first time I heard of globospiens was when I read about it in a german newspaper.
Congratulations, Christian --- Just SMILE - and the world smiles with you!!

Dear Andy, speaking off over 10.000,00 members in our community.
It is of course a great achievement. Myself, I have found this the most
Innocent, and the most educative site on entire net, where members of any age
Can interact: shere their travel experiences, and wonderful images of any rate,
Give advices in forums, in their travel reports and travel tips!
But many members in our community are not performing at all for months and even years (totally dormant-even without their picture uploaded) some members are in this site are looking for chatting only with opposite gender or with the same gender, I assume not about travel… There are other sites on the net where people can date on line!
I propose, that such so-called members have to be completely terminated from this site, and not only because they are inactive, but looking for something different….

Hello Boris,
thank you for your reply. This is actually true and not that unnormal. Most interactive sites on the internet are full of people who want to sell anything, spam, scam or similar. This is often the only activity they do. We are trying to keep GLOBO clean and to make it the number one quality travel site on the net, where all the black sheeps keep out. There are already lots of great people on the site, like yourself, which make GLOBO a "come home place".
Usually it is said that a good site gets about 5 - 10 % of the members active. I personally think this is way to low. But how can we get inactive members to get active? Some other sites are trying it with merchandise you can win after reaching several points, but I dont like that idea. People should help without getting paid, plus think off all those people who start copy and pasting from various sites on the net just to get an award. Plagarism is what we do not want. I consider the point system and gaining respect of the other members by posting their own content a much better way.
Currently we are talking about 50 new members on average per day. Actually there are about 80 - 100 each day, but the others dont make it through the sign up process, or are filtered out by scam, spam and other protection systems. How to filter out the "goodies" from all the surfers visiting GLOBO is a high challenging task and we are working on a system to reactivate some inactive members.
I would like to see GLOBO transform in a travel publishing community. We are not near to the point I want to take GLOBO. But this discussion should not be public. I would like to invite you to join the "globo intern talk" forum and to share your thoughts and ideas there. That way we do not get to much off topic and the right people contribute and read the postings.
CU there,
Andy
