Hello everybody,
in order to protect your pictures from rating fraud there is a new protection system installed. Downgrading, or upgrading is now within reasonable limits. This makes it pretty time consumpting to fully downgrade pictures of other members. People who are trying to trick the system, will need loads of time to see results plus they will be identified more easily.
Best regards,
Andy

Great, Andy
Not only should it protect against spite ratings but it should protect people accused of having ghosts if members know you will be exorcising any ghosts that attract your notice. --- Grieve not for that which you cannot do but rejoice in that which you can.

Sorry, Andy, but on reading Rudi’s message I see that there is a major mistake in your error message. Since the message should be seen by those who choose to grade on very strange criteria, we must suspect they would love any mistake.
The ERROR message reads [in part] ‘Upgrading describes the process of rating a picture far lower, than a fair valuation of it would allow.’
It should say the opposite; i.e. ‘Upgrading describes the process of rating a picture far higher than a fair valuation of it would allow.’
It’s downgrading that ‘describes the process of rating a picture far lower, than a fair valuation of it would allow.’

Great News Staff!
What I like the most is the comment possibility, truly an achievement!
I hope that now the ratings will be more accurate.
Thank you for your hard work

Thank you very much David for reading the error [above] properly, I didn't. It is too direct and not even correct, most unsuitable. How about something like:
"Our System has detected a possible error in the rating of this picture. Your rating was *** off the current average rating of other members so cannot be recorded. Please try again or contact the member directly. Otherwise, we are sure a true average for the item will develope over time. For more information please see F.A.Q. Thank you.
Other ideas? Members please help! RR [ This Message was edited by: rangutan on 2006-01-05 01:21 ] --- Rudolf "Rangutan" Graspointner

Thanks, David. Actually, both aspects of the message are needed.
Rudi, was this a message that you encountered or only a suggestion?

I've done a bit of investigation like Rudi did and the message that comes up in the case of an attempted undergrading is OK - it's only the overgrading one that's wrong.
However I do like Rudi's suggestion that would cover both - except for the e at the end of develop. [Quiet admission - It was only in the year leading up to my degree that I realised 'develope' was wrong.]
