Bozeman is located in southwestn Montana on the Rocky Mountain Range. The town is about 30,000 people and is home to the Bobcats of Montana State University. This is an utterly beautiful ski town that was rated in the top ten ski towns in live in (yr. 2000). Everyone in this area seems to be incredibly healthy and very active. There is so much to do in either winter or summer and some of the most amazing geological creations on the planet. (this pic is of Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park-80 mi from Bozeman)

Favourite spots: |
Bridger Bowl is the local ski resort that is non-profit (20 minutes from Bozeman). Tickets are about twenty-five US a person and it is well worth it. At the top of the mountain, you can ski the ridge which must (by law) be skied with a partner, shovel, and beepers in case of avalanches (which are common). You can also ski Big Sky which is about 45 minutes away. It is about 45-55 dollars a ticket but does have the longest verticle in the United States (beats Jackson Hole by something like 200 feet). What's really great: |
Yellowstone National Park is eighty miles south of Bozeman. There are geysers, wild animals, forests, birds, hiking, fishing, boating, snowmachining, museums, you name it. Incredibly beautiful. Best way to see the park is to enter (or exit) south of Livingston and exit (or enter) at the town of West Yellowstone. You can see the greatest amount of the park this way and most chances to see a wide array of wildlife.

Accommodations: |
Bozeman has many places to stay of all price ranges. There are also several Bed and Breakfasts that are owned by some great families. If you are into skiing, I would recommend staying for a few nights at Bridger Bowl and the other nights in town. (Yellowstone Park)

Nightlife: |
KO's on south main street is the only real club in town (small but gets rowdy).
|
|
Hangouts: |
L.J.'s bar is good for the 18-22 year age range and the Cat's Paw is the best place for drink specials. 6 dollars for all you can drink pitchers from 6-10 pm.

|
Restaurants: |
Fair amount, but not a lot of different types to choose from.

Other recommendations: |
Montana State University is on the north end of town. It is a beautiful campus with new landscaping (as of 2001) and a new football stadium. Very nice to spend a fall afternoon walking thru the campus.
