Isolated. Beautiful....incredi-ble beaches and a stark wild beauty. Delicate ecology with flora and fauna found no where else. Interesting contrasts in colors; snow white beaches, with iron red dirt and the most incredible turquoise blue water I have ever seen. Water so clear you can see to the bottom of the ocean. Fish unafraid to approach you. Colorful cockatoos playing on the cricket green and Emu's begging at the restaurant doors. Also, some of the BEST seafood I have ever eaten in my life! So fresh it is still moving. Kangaroo's taller then most men and termite nests several stories tall! Whale sharks that attract photographers from National Geographic and I believe the only reef found on the western side of a continent. Sea turtles who come up to the beach to bury their eggs and whales so close you can do whale watching without binoculars. (Ok....so it is EASIER if you have binoculars...but you can see them from the beach so easily.)

Favourite spots: |
Coral Bay, Turquoise Bay, Exmouth gulf, Shark bay (aka Monkey Mia). All of which have been visited and/or filmed/photographed by National Geographic. I think Monkey Mia was pretty incredible...with the dolphins coming up to take a look at the humans. Coral Bay was great too...being a reserve the fish have NO fear of humans. HUGE snappers that come up and take bread from your fingers!

What's really great: |
All of it. It was an experience that most people never have the pleasure of experiencing. I was there for three years compliments of the United States Navy and the Australian Government. There are some scenes that are so etched in my mind that they spring very easily to mind when I see something that reminds me of that area. I made many VERY good friends from the Australians living in that area. What an experience!

There isn't a whole lot there. I am not sure what is left since a hurricane a few years ago.
