Capital of Madeira, but just a tiny town. The place has atmosphere, but is extremely crowded in tourist season. And Madeira is a nice island, but not exactly somewhere one goes for adventure.

Favourite spots: |
I don't have any. There were no spots here which stood out as exceptional in any way.
What's really great: |
Madeira has sunshine and beautiful nature, and some of the mountain valleys surrounding Funchal are very cute, busrides up there spectacular.
Accommodations: |
Went on a cheapie charter tour, hotel was lousy but fair enough for the price. Would prefer staying in central Funchal instead of the tourist strip west of town if ever going again.
Restaurants: |
Lots of them - hard to find really good ones, as they're pretty much all aimed at growing tourism.
