We frequently take weekend breaks from Bangkok and Hua Hin is one of our favorite places for the weekend. It is also a good holiday and vacation spot. Not as famous as many tourist areas of Thailand Hua Hin does offer a little of everything.

The Golden Budda facing the sea at Khao Takiab in Hua Hin
 |
 |
It only takes about 2 and a half hours by road from Bangkok to Hua Hin so it makes for an easy break from busy Bangkok. You can also go by express bus or take the train, or just a very short flight, most people go by car, taxi or express bus from Bangkok.

Favourite spots: |
Although we like the town of Hua hin for restaurants and shopping we prefer to stay just out of the very centre of the town but still close enough to make going to and from town very easy. The Khao Takiab beach area is only 5 minutes from the centre, just a few minutes further Takiab Bay has a nice beach and is very pleasant. The beach is long and wide. In the evenings we visit the night market and enjoy some of the superb Hua hin restaurants both in town and along the beaches.

Hua Hin Beach at Takiab Bay
 |
 |
Very relaxed and easy going, cheap shopping, excellent Hua Hin restaurants. We can choose golf and other sports, visit the temples and national parks ( which are very close ) or just laza around the beach. Good choice of hotels, resorts and other accommodation. Hua Hin offers a little of everything in Thailand, beaches, national parks, sports, shopping, restaurants and bars. There is also history and the lovely temples. Fishing villages and you can very easily get into jungle areas and see elephants and other wildlife.

Khao Takiab Temple Hua Hin

 |
Hua Hin has history and culture, fine temples. There are plenty of half day and full days trips and tours. The national parks, snorkeling trip and the temples at Phetchaburi are very popular.

Great Hua Hin Restaurants

Just so many restaurants, Thai and seafood, other Asian cuisine plus excellent French and Italian Restaurants. For those who want laid back style head to the Thai and seafood restaurants right on the beach at Takiab Bay.

A good read, but wish you had given more detailed information, especially since I have never been here |

A good report but, having never heard of Hua Hin before, I feel you could tell me a lot more about it. |
