The Inland Sea, a part of the Ionian Sea is a favourite sailing destination in Greece because of it´s natural beauty and the relatively calm waters there.
|
The Ionian Sea´s easternmost part , the Inland sea is a calm body of water that is sheltered by a group of islands consisting of Lefkas, Ithaca, Kephallonia to the west and to the east by the Peloponnes, Albania and continental Greece. This area is best known for the birthplace of Odysseus (Ithaca) and lately for the setting of the famous novel Captain Corelli´s Mandolin, which was later also filmed with Nicolas Cage and Penelope Cruz.
