Shanghai have a lot to offer as a city. I was there in June and i was really surprissed, i imagine a big city but at the end was great. Maybe the only place in China , or Asia, where i could stay for living. City of changes but special because the keep their original chinesse feeling of the first half of the last century. Great architecture in al of the concessions quarters and in both sdes of the river. A city , MUST see it!!!

Favourite spots: |
The architecture all around the both sides of the Yang Tze river that ends there. The commercial street of Nanjing Road, so long!!! The really big buildings of the Pudong special economic area like the Oriental pearl.

What's really great: |
I really love just walk through the French and British concession areas and apreciate the old european architecture in China. I also found special the old Chinesse Shanghai Quarter at south near the Yi Yuan Park ... wow! was great and have a great street market. The nightlife that never ends is also fantastic and the Shanghai girls are the best of China!!

|
Accommodations: |
There are two options.
The Astor Hotel (Pujiang Hotel) have dormitories with 6-8 beds and 55 Yuens per night. (Great hotel, clean and the best for me!!)
There are another hotel at Fuzhou Lu but i can´t remmember the name.

|
Nightlife: |
There are a lot all arround central Shanghai going through Nanjing Road.
Never go to the Hard Rock Cafe. (Fucking Expensive!!)
New york, new york was famous but now is closed for so long so don´t go.

Other recommendations: |
If you are travelling with someone go to walk through the Bund by night is so romantic.
And please, never buy the ridiculous lighting necklaces!!

I wish I had seen Shanghai before WW II I'm told that it was quite hip.
You're right the girls are beautiful here. The men are ho-hum ! |

Or those light up rollar wheel skates that attach to your shoes! It took all my willpower not to buy those. I hope one day I don't regret it. |
