Vancouver B.C. North Americas Most Beautiful City

  6 votes

Vancouver travelogue picture
If not the most beautiful, definitely near the top of the list. This Multicultural city has somthing to offer all intrests. From North Americas third largest China Town, the sandy beaches, its modern architecture, expansive parks, great shopping, and beautiful wooded mountains all around, if you can't find something to do in Vancouver you are dead.

Favourite spots:
Vancouver travelogue picture
Wreck Beach near the campus of UBC. Capilano Suspension Bridge in the foothills of North Vancouver (across Lionsgate Bridge). Stanley Park, 1000 forested acres of cycling and hiking trails on the tip of the downtown peninsula. Blunt Bros. a great smoke shop on west hastings street.

What's really great:
Wreck Beach is a secluded clothing optional beach near the UBC campus. Take entry trail #6 down the hill from SW Marine Drive. Its a steep hike down about 1/2 a mile of stairs built into the hillside and maintained by the locals. Once you get to the bottom pick a spot near one of the logs washed up on the beach and sit back and enjoy the scenery of the surounding sea and mountains. While you bask in the sun, tanned naked (for lack of a better word)hippies come to you offering thier wares such as beer, cakes, chocolate covered psilocybin, and special Brownies, Rice Crispy Treats and Cookies (do not buy these for the kids)Last time I visited you could rent a hammock from a guy who made them on the beach and tie them to the many logs placed into the ground like totem poles. The people are friendly, the views excelent and the memories last five minutes (so take a camera)

Accommodations:
Vancouver Hostel Down Town offers ammenities galore(game room, library, kitchen, rooftop patio, city tours ect...) and a great location.
1114 Burnaby St. 888-203-4302 $20-$64
reservations recomended

Restaurants:
Cafe Oasis 1183 Davie St.
Great Veggie food and cheap (Falafel, Tofu stew, Breakfast Wraps)

Other recommendations:
Horseshoe Bay, and Whistler B.C. are other great places North up the coast from Vancouver
