May 31, 2010 02:00 PM leaving to India
previously a difficult decision: Iran or again to Pakistan? or India?
at the end a TV report gave me the kick I needed: climbing up to the glaciers of Uttarkand, following the streams of Ganga the holy river of India

Mar 26, 2009 07:00 PM Shaolin Temple
some 50 km away from Luoyang we reached the famous sight by public bus. industrial areas all along the way. at the main gate I got really disappointed. this should be the one??? we must be at the wrong place...
1000s chinese tourists... nothing than concrete made buildings! about 20 USD entrance fee. well, once here we should have at least a look: report follows.
spend the whole day in there and return back by 8pm

Mar 21, 2009 07:00 PM Xi an - city of the Terracotta Warriors
Arrived yesterday early morning to the city. the final station of our train was Lhasa. so at least we traveled 1/4rd of the tour we wanted to do.
Tibet is closed for foreigners until end of march. Chinese authorities do not issue permits until end of the month due to the new year celebrations and Dalai Lamas birthday since the expect demonstrations again. we have seen lots of soldiers boarding the train at Beijing.
we visited the site of the terracotta warroirs today. one hour out of town by public bus. very crowded by local at foreign tourist groups. roofs covering the excavations. all looks a bit sterile and I was asking myself if those soldiers are copies or the real ones. locals can get to close and even empty water bottles could be found in the yards...
good day. evening we may spend in the famour muslim quarter. lovely market, lots of foodstalls...
