Welcome to my travel log! You will find here a lot more than in the travel reports, stripped from political correctness. Enjoy!
Dec 30, 2008 07:00 PM Berlin (DE) - Silvester
This is the second time in this century that I decided to come to Berlin for the last day of the year to party. And it was not for the high profile fireworks at the Brandenburg Gate, but along some of the side streets in the centre, where the clubs and restaurants were.
I took off from London in the early afternoon and landed at about 4pm with plenty of time to spare and get ready. My cousin, who is based in Berlin, prepared some food, we warmed up our throats and off we went, a few minutes after 11pm. Just in time to join one of the parties at a club. I brought a couple of champagnes from the airport, which we opened and shared with the people, who were less lucky - drinking poor imitations of the real bubbly.
The party ended at about 5am. It was wild, wild, wild.

Dec 25, 2008 07:00 PM London (GB) - a dejavu
Today was a glorious day. Full of sunshine and no clouds. It was bright as on a cold winter morning. Actually, it was rather cold. But the sun was hanging low in the sky. It was great for pictures. Crowds came out for wandering about the city. Shops re-opened for business and so did the public transport.
My friends Allan and I hit the town. He had not been to London before, so I was his tour guide and ... a photographer :) It was a great Boxing Day. Loads of laughing and joking around. And a couple of bangers and mash for late lunch. Yeah. London is truly the greatest city in the world!
It was super for me to go and see the places the way I saw them for the first time, when I came to London ages ago.

Dec 24, 2008 07:00 PM Happy Christmas and Season's Greetings to All
Hello All Globies,
This is just a quick log to wish you all a very happy Christmas or a jolly good holiday this festive season. Let it be a merry time for you.
I have a visitor for Christmas, which gives me someone to take care of. I love it. We went on a stroll along Oxford and Regent Streets in London to face the crowds, but mainly to see the Christmas Lights and decorations. Some of them were superb, and apparently they are all energy saving lights.
On the picture here, there are the stars on Regent Street. I saw their picture taken from the air, which looked spectacular indeed.
All the best!

Dec 19, 2008 07:00 PM Iceland - pictures
I have a little more pictures from Iceland that I would like to post, but I have just reached my limit so it will have to wait until next year before I can upload them.
There are a few from the capital of Iceland and a few more from Reykjavik neighbourhood, which feature geysers, waterfalls, glaciers and mountains.

Dec 13, 2008 07:00 PM Reports - ideas for future publications
I have been thinking what else I can contribute in terms of reports for GLOBOsapiens and I came up with several places I might still write about. These are just wild concepts and I have not yet decided for sure, which of them will end up to become reports. I visited a few more countries but I was not sure whether there was enough for me to say in the form of a report. I have ideas also for some more places within the countries I have already written or I am currently writing about.
I feel I have not reported enough about Poland, England, Wales, and Scotland, countries about which I probably know most amongst all the places I have been to so far. But there is also Slovenia, Croatia, Malta, Turkey, the Netherlands, Ireland, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Trinidad & Tobago about which I have been silent to date, too.
And I think I should have more to say about Germany, Thailand, Indonesia, the United States and definitely about a few countries in Africa, like Madagascar, Namibia, Mozambique, Kenya, Ghana, Mali, The Gambia, Senegal, Libya or Morocco.
The map above indicates countries about which I might write something or more about in the future. There are about 28 of them.

Dec 12, 2008 07:00 PM Reports in progress
I still have 16 reports unpublished, which are in progress, covering ten countries, including some of those I had already written about, such as the United States and France. But there are some, on which I had not said much about so far and they include Belgium, Iceland, Latvia, Estonia and Australia for example.
The map above illustrates the countries I am currently writing about. It will take a few weeks before I finish, unless I am really bored around Christmas, as I am not going anywhere for the holidays.

Dec 11, 2008 07:00 PM Report on the 81st country - Lithuania
As I eventually ended up not going to Varenna due to horrible weather, I decided to chill and write more reports. Now, I published one on Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. It has been a while since I have been there, but I checked the facts, and the report should be accurate.
Lithuania is the 81st country on which I submitted a report to GLOBOsapiens. The map above illustrates all the states I wrote about so far. I covered some of the countries with more than one report, and there are more than three on Peru, Madagascar, Greece, India, Iran, and Uzbekistan.

Dec 10, 2008 07:00 PM Christmas Party in London
Today's the party. It is a work party but the venue in London it is taking place in, is almost controversial, which means that it already sounds rather promising. At least weather in London fits the winter mood. It sooooo cold now, that without windscreen a scratching tool, one cannot really move our of a car park. It may sound a little silly to complain (sic!) about -3C, while other parts of Europe get much, much colder these days, but I am an animal that likes it warm, or even hot. And it has been really a long, long while since I was in a hot country. It will also be rather a long while, before I will go a hot country again. I will have not had such a long break in a few years.

Dec 09, 2008 07:00 PM Lombardia - should I cross over to see Lugano, too?
Now, as I am getting ready for my second trip to the Lombardian Alps, I am thinking that if weather allows, I might make time to hop to see Lugano on the Swiss side. My friends went and said that the views were spectacular. They were not necessarily raving about Lugano itself and its ambiance, but it should be interesting to check it out. It is only a few miles from Varenna across the lake via Menaggio. But there are also other places on the Italian side that I had not seen, and perhaps sticking to Lombardia might mean less hassle with the money exchanges, etc. Plus, of course, the Italian side is full of wonderful cuisine and relaxed atmosphere. This is only going to be a weekend, so I ought to allow enough time for slouching... rather than rushing from one place to another. ;)

Dec 07, 2008 07:00 PM Varenna (IT) - Lago di Como, coming again
My friends were kind enough to invite me to Varenna at the Lake Como, again. It will have been two months since I was there last and first time. I cannot wait. A few weekends before they told me that snow covered some of the Alpine peaks and the views exceptionally spectacular. I hope weather will again be kind to me and I will bring some great memories, will go and see something new in the vicinity and take many pictures. For now, the forecast predicts snow and rain, which is not the best, but last time, the weather people were wrong. I am therefore remaining hopeful. I really miss Varenna, its charm and picturesque little streets and cosy cafes.
