Mar 21, 2008 07:00 PM Sky above Denmark

Sky above Denmark Driving in Denmark could be boring as the landscape is very flat in most parts of the country; however, you can see very far away because of that. Clouds look floating very close to the ground. Often, interesting sky sceneries, especially sunrise and sunset, can be seen on the road.

Mar 21, 2008 07:00 PM Jammerbugt coastline

Jammerbugt coastline Though wind is wild and freezing cold, and it is painful when sands hit your face, there are still quite a number of tourists or locals walking along this part of the west coast during winter. The pretty Rubjerg Knude lighthouse standing within the huge dunes…I couldn’t take more pictures as my hands were almost frozen.

Mar 21, 2008 07:00 PM Aalborg is quite dead on Saturday afternoon!

Aalborg is quite dead on Saturday afternoon! Many cities/towns in Denmark are not as lively as many other European cities I have visited. Most shops are closed at 15:00 on Saturday and the streets are fairly empty then. But I haven’t thought about it would be the same in Aalborg; the fourth biggest town in Denmark! I hope it is so only in winter! Despite this, there are many restaurants, pubs and bars in the old town; it should be a good place for partying and hanging out.

Mar 19, 2008 07:00 PM How much do you know about Hans Christian Andersen?

How much do you know about Hans Christian Andersen? When I was small, there was one very interesting TV cartoon series on fairy tales made by the Japanese which was one of my favorites. This cartoon was quite unique comparing with others during that time as it was from black and white papercuts, at least they looked like. I don’t remember whether the tales were from HC Andersen or Brothers Grimm as I always mixed them up in the past. But after visiting the HC Andersen museum in Odense, I believe it should be Andersen’s tales as he was very good in papercuts ;-)…very interesting to recall those fragments again after so long.

It was pleasant to walk around Odense; a small town but full of monuments / sculptures and art galleries.

Mar 18, 2008 07:00 PM Finally getting out of the hole…

Relocated to Denmark about half year ago, I haven’t seen much of this little country so far. Indeed working in Denmark is not stressful at all; most people get off from work punctually and working hours on Friday is normally shorter that leave you a longer weekend. This is so-called ‘work life balance’. So, actually I should have more time to go sightseeing during the weekend. Unfortunately, the weather in the past months discouraged me to get out of my shelter. This Easter, I finally decided to move my butt and go around a bit.
