Aug 23, 2023 08:00 PM From Messina to Taormina...
In Taormina our ship docked just in the center of the city close to the cathedral square. Bu we started from the walk to the station. Trains and buses go from there to the famous ancient settlement of Taormina. The bus is cheaper (4,30 euro) and is giving a chance to see panoramic views of Sicilian mountais. It will also take you to the upper level of the town - you will avoid climbing to the Greeko- roman amphitheater which is main attraction of this place. Nice narrow streets with many shops. For the theatre you will pay hefty 12,50 euro but it is worth, also for the view of the coast with islands. To get down to the railway station we used steep path..
Back in Messina we still had a time to climb to the sanctuary for the panoramic view if Messina. Great day!

Aug 21, 2023 08:00 PM Koper in the lovely Slovenia
Koper is not only important port on the Adriatic Sea but also historic city with many monuments from the Venetian period. Our ship docked right in front of the Old City. As you go to the shore they provide free maps and tourist info. They even built elevator to take you to the level of city walls. It is just 200 m walk to reach the Titov Square - the main square of the Old Koper, surrounded by cathedral, palace and armoury... Nice, cozy place. We took a walk to the great coastal promenade. It is heading to the free beaches for sunbathing and swimming. Sorry, no sand, little stones only. Water curtains in the park are chilling, because it is jot, hot, hot... Tomorrow we have a day at sea on our route to Sicily...

Aug 19, 2023 08:00 PM Treviso is famous for...
It was 4 pm when we say goodbye to Gdansk, flying on Ryanair to Treviso near Venice. The flight was not full and (imagine!) we reachd destination 20 min ahead of time... 33 deg Celsius at 6 pm. Just opposite the terminal building there is little pension where they offer triple room with shared bath and fan for just 81 euro. We left our backpacks and took a walk (more than 4 kms each way to tje Old Treviso. I did not exspect that they have so many monuments in little Treviso! Churches, palaces, gates... But The most famous is a little stone fountain hidden in the
little courtyard - I did not see yet the drinking water falling from the breast of pretty lady. They call it Fontana delle Tette...

Aug 18, 2023 08:00 PM New season, new voyage. But not alone!
I am starting another season of traveling! Normally, the inauguration of this season was in September, but this time I am taking my grandchildren Kamil and Kuba, who have to go back to school on September 1st, to start the new course.
Our journey will begin with a low-cost flight from Gda?sk to Trevisio near Venice. After visiting old Venice, we will board a ship in Ravenna and, sailing the entire length of the Adriatic and Mediterranean Sea, we will visit the next ports of Slovenia, Italy, France and Spain. We will organize tours and port visits on our own. From Barcelona we will return with a cheap flight straight to Gda?sk.
For Kamil and Kuba, it will be the first travel experience of this kind and a great adventure. Our ship, on which we will travel in the cheapest, inner cabin, is the American oldie "Enchantment of the Seas" built in 1997 and taking 2700 passengers. You will find "hot" messages from the route of this trip, as always, in my travel log.

Jul 06, 2023 08:00 PM Travellers in Wojtkowka...
I spend my summer days in my cottage, surrounded by blossoming garden. My friends and visitors from all over the world are coming for the night or two, enjoying fresh strawberries snd sweet cherries. Recently I hosted Vojtech from Czech Republic - experienced traveller flying from Norway via Gdansk to Turkey. We had a good tome talking about our climbings of Mt Kilimanjaro in Africa... Thank you, Vojtech! Welcome all to Wojtkowka, - the meeting place of world travellers!

Lovely, sunny spring came to Gdansk. I am working every day in my Wojtkowka enjoying flowers around and meeting first travellers - some of them are helping me to spray vegetable beds with water because at least since one week we did not have here any rain. Cherry trees are already in blossom - see the picture! Wojtkowka is open again for the travellers from all over the world!

May 04, 2023 08:00 PM Landing in Savona
At the sunrise our ship carefully entered little port of Savona. Blue sky, lovely breakfast with a view of the green hills on the coast. At 9 am I was ready to disembark after thanking and saying warm goodbye to my cabin steward and brilliant waiter Raydante. Both of them are from the Philippines... With carry-on baggage only there was no need to wait for the baggage (when thousand plus passengers is disembarking it is a problem) Then O took a walk across Savona town to the station. Ticket to the nearest airport in Genova costs 4,90 euro and the ride took me 45 minutes.
In Genova my short, low-cost plane to Naples was on time. From Naples I have direct Ryanair flight to my Gdansk, where I will be landing aroung 7 pm - very convenient and inexpensive connection. Another lovely voyage is coming to the end!

May 03, 2023 08:00 PM Marseille -Marsylia in blue
We reached Marseille today at 7 am. Lovely weather! Blue sky, blue water in the bay. And as much as 5 big cruise ships in the port! The ship offers shuttle bus to the centre of the city for 13 euro RT. They will not tell you that from the port gate there is free port bus to the Jolliette Square. So I took the walk and skip extra expense. Last time when I have been here the weather was cold and windy. Today - just wonderful weather to walk the boulevards to the well lnown places like Old Port with the fishermen selling fish. But I discovered also mew place: monumental stairs climbing from old city to the gare St Charles. The main vity landmark is the Basilica of Notre Dame de la Garde on the 150-m hill overlooking the city and port. I was climbing to those ornate church third time - it is worth
