May 05, 2019 08:00 PM Via Vienna to Graz
I rely on the Gdansk transport system: buxs 158 took me to Wrzeszcz quarter and then 122 - to the Gdansk airport. Both buses were on time, but it is always a moment of emotion 1 minute before the scheduled departure - will it arrive? In the airport I went smoothly through the security control. At thr gate 15 they were already boarding - but only the people who paid for the priority - not me! My backpack was slightly bigger then 40x30x20 but I was keeping it on my back and the wizzair guys did not check it. Ok! The flight to Vienna was full. It took us 1 h 20 min to land on time in VIE. It took me some 15 min to follow the "bus" signs to the exit near the McDonald restaurant. My bus stop no 6 to Graz is just in front of the exit door. So everything goes well. The sky is cloudy but in a few minutes - at 4.10 pm I will board the flixbus to Graz!
The bus was nice - it had more space for legs than the plane. Sorry, wifi does not work! But the road was terrible at the beginning and end due to the traffic jams. We arrived to Graz delayed 40 minutes. I took 2kms walk through the old town to the station area. A&o hostel is very modern. A bed in the 6 hbeds dorm costs only 20 euro.

Apple trees are in blossom in Wojtkówka, but the basic works are already done! Now I have to wait for the warmer days to plant the tomatoes and other plants.
Why don't to use this time to visit some unknown places in the South Europe? I still have some award points on my wizzair account to order free tickets... Let's fly!

I have wonderfull time in my dacha. In the first days of May, fruit trees flourished in Wojtkówka. The view was really amazing! If only there will be no frosts, then also this year there should be great harvest of the fruit. In the cellar I still have few boxes of apples picked last year.
I work a lot on the open air and... I am planing new voyages. Soon, soon...

Apr 04, 2019 08:00 PM From the Alps back to Gdansk...
Low clouds but no rain in Geneva today.... It is only 20 min walk from the home of my friend Mike to the airport. The morning sun was beautifully exposing the snowy Jura Mountains on the west horizon when were walking toward the airport. Then it was a time to say goodbye to Mike who hosted me in expensive Switzerland... See our picture... Thank you Mike and I believe I will see you soon - in Tibet maybe?
They scan the boarding passes at the security stands here! And then unpleasant surprise: LOT flight to Warsaw is expected to be dalayed 1 h 5 min. Morning flight! Shame on you LOT! I can miss my express train to Gdansk!
Anyway it was short but very interesting voyage to the unknown places...

Apr 03, 2019 08:00 PM The Alps: rain yesterday, snow today...
It was heavy rain in the morning when I was boarding my next train in Locarno. Next train, are you crazy? No, I just want to see as much as possible using my unlimited travel day tickets. They are walid for travel on all trains and buses but only on the day printed on them.
So today the first train took me to Belinzona - the capital of Ticino province with 3 old castles dominating the town. Then I boarded the yellow "post" bus goind throu the mountains to Thusis. This was the adventure! It was heavily snowing when the bus was climbing to San Bernardino Pass. Authorities closed this route for the trucks, bus our bus successfully passed through to Splugen and down to Thusis where I boarded red mountain train to St Moritz. New great views on this route including 65 m high viaduct. St Moritz, where the Winter Olympics Games were organized twice was in winter scenery where I was there. Sorry - not much to see in the falling snow.... The village is well up from the station.... Enough? Yes, I took then 3 trains one by one to return to Geneva. My friend Mike was waiting for me with a cup of hot tea. The whole plan was completed, even in the winter weather :)

Apr 02, 2019 08:00 PM Through the Alps to Ticino
Ticino is Italian - speaking part of Switzerland. To get there I went first to... Italy. From Swiss Brig train took me through 17-km tunnel to Italian town of Domidossola and then I went on a special panoramic train I went to Locarno. Unfortunately weather was bad today - cloudy and rainy but I still managed to see three interesting places: Locarno and Ascona on Lago Maggiore and Lugano on the bank of the beautiful lake.
I liked especially Lugano. It is green already on this side of the Alps and flowers are in blossom.

Apr 01, 2019 08:00 PM I saw Matterhorn!
It was 7 am and still dark when I was sitting already in the train. The forecast was pessimistic: clouds in the afternoon. We started the journey to Lausanne then I saw a great sunrise on Geneva Lake. Around 9.30 I disembat train in Visp. Red mountain train was waiting there to take me up to Zermatt - well known Swiss mountain resort. The route (about 2 hours by train) was very picturesque. In Zermatt in front of the station I was disappointed: Where is the famous Matterhorn? They buit so many hotels and pensions that you have to go some 800 m up the valley to see legendary pyramidal mountain. Yes, it was still visible and I must say that - impressive.... An hour later the peak was covered by clouds.

Mar 31, 2019 08:00 PM Geneva from the hills....
Yesterday evening till 11 pm I was showing my travel pictures from all over the world talking about most exotic places. My listeners were excited... Today it is time to say goodbye to them, but maybe I will see them in Poland this summer...
Flix bus to Geneva was delayed almost one hour. I boarded at 11.25 am. The views from the window on the way to Geneva were nice, only 15 min waiting on the French Swiss border. In the afternoon I was happy to see again my friend Mike. He prepared tge surprise. We boarded his car and he drown me back to France (no border control on the side road) - to the top of Saleve Mountain. It has nice cliff from Geneva side and few viewpoints some 600 m above the city. Geneva is visible, Jura Mountains on the horizon and a big part of Geneva Lake. Unfortunately it was hazy today so the pictures are not the best. On the other side of Saleve there is a view of Mont Blanc. Of course it is in the distance... We took the walk to the cable car station and back - good exercise! :) Tomorrow I plan to go by train to Zermatt.

Mar 30, 2019 10:00 PM Alps - what a wonderful world!
Chamonix, where I stay with very friendly Mr Kacper lies in the narrow valley. On right side the highest mountain in Europe - Mont Blanc is towering the valley followed by other, lower snowy peaks. On the left you will see Mt Brevent - only 2525 m high, but with great view and cableway going to the top. The choice was difficult, I wanted to see as much as possible. Tickets foe cableways are expensive (like 65 euro RT to the famous Aiguille du Midi. So the budget traveller can survive. At the end of ski season they still sell ski passes giving unlimited usage of local cableways, buses and more. Buy it!
I woke up early beiing before 8 am at the cableway station. Sunday. No people in the line! In two stages I moved from 1035 m - Chamonix Level to 3842 m. Cold here and 65% less oxygen in the air - but what a view from few terraces on different levels! You are close to the Mont Blanc!
Back in Chamonix I went to the terrain mountain railway operating to Montenvers in the glacier valley on altitude of 1913 m. Take a left side window seat for the views! Wow! From the final station gondola will take you down to the valley. Then you have to walk down 500 stairs to touch the glacier (and 500 up on the way back!). They cut the grotto in the glacier - it is some 100 m walk with the old photos gallery and ice chair to be photographed on.
Back in Chamonix I too the bus to Brevent cableway. First stage it is gondola stage to the altitude of 2000 m. Then you took the car to 2525 m to enjoy 360 deg. panoramic view of the Alps. What a wonderful world!

This was very pleasant meeting of the top travellers. I met Mike years ago on the expedition ship going to the Antarctic. Then we were travelling toogether in Brazil and Tibet... Today Mike was my guide in Geneva, where I have been last time some 25 years ago. We had a beautiful sunny day to enjoy the Leman Lake. The famous fountain 140 m high and to stroll around the old town. The view from the tower of St Peter cathedral is excellent. Thank you Mike for yoyr hospitality and such a wonderful time! In the afternoon I am taking a bus to Chamonix... to Mont Blanc...
