hi there,
if you were looking for a place that has the beach and 10mins away the mountains and bushland i'd recommend queensland, caloundra sunshine coast australia. than if you would like to check out the mountains and bushland which is not far at all from caloundra check out Glasshouse mountains, queensland, australia: Beerwah queensland, australia.try these sites: http://www.queenslandholidays.com.au, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunshine_Coast,_Queensland, http://www.australianexplorer.com/caloundra.htm
try those for a look around. only thing really with caloundra is the rent is high but places like glasshouse mountains, beerwah & landsborough is where its a bit cheaper.hope this helped.
kylie :)

Nate,

Did you happen to relocate to Australia? I have been researching relocation from the US and was wondering how the process was. What to expect and so forth?

Thanks
JB

I originally come from Perth but have travelled back and forth over the last decade. I can strongly recommend it from a outdoors living perspective. Plenty of surfing, diving, sports, kayaking, fishing etc opportunities right on your doorstep. Also great opportunities to travel north (semi tropical and arid landscapes) and south (mediterranean forests and heavy rainfall) and have different landscapes and feels.

Hello Friends...

I lived in Sydney a couple of years ago, so here's what I know.. I lived in a suburb ...Mostly Good food shopping in Sydney is not universally good across all suburbs....The Glebe/Balmain area is quite a short drive from Leichardt and good in it's own right. The area is safe and it's easy to get around if you do not have a car. If I were to move back to Sydney I would look in this area to buy or in Ryde.

HI NATE, I WOULD SUGGEST YOU CHECK OUT NOOSA ON THE SUNSHINE COAST NORTH OF BRISBANE IN QUEENSLAND. I THINK IT HAS EVERYTHING YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.

Hello Friends...

I am living in Melbourne(Australia) from the last 7 years and found that this city is among the safest cities in Australia...And the reason is its low crime rate plus the density of population is also low...The people here are amazing to talk and behave....So,it is my best place to stay in Australia...

Hello everyone,

I just joined this site also looking to find more info about moving to Australia. I didn't get to go abroad during college since I competed in college cross country and track, and now that I will be graduating, I am looking to for a new experience.

Can anyone tell me which universities are the best? I'm interested in a graduate degree in medicine/engineering and I need to be somewhere close to the beach and with lots of places to run.

Any ideas are appreciated, and thanks to Nate for starting this topic!

Jess
