Edmonton is the capital of the province of Alberta. Located only 3 hours from the Rockies, this town has something for everyone.
Major sights include the world's largest shopping mall, West Edmonton Mall, the River Valley Park system (the largest of its kind in North America), Whyte Avenue, and a plethora of festivals throughout the summer. This near continuous stream of festivals start in June and has earned Edmonton the moniker, Canada's Festival City. Some of the more popular are the Street Performer's festival, the Fringe festival, and the Folk Music festival.
Whyte Avenue is popular with people of all ages. On Saturdays, there is a Farmer's Market in the old ETS barn, and the street is filled with eclectic restaurants, bars, pubs and shops. [edit text][editors]
