Beijing (or Peking, as it was once known), is the capital of the People's Republic of China and is situated in the northeastern part of China around 43½ metres above sea level, looking out to the Bohai Sea. It has an area of 16808 sq km and about 12 million people live there. The climate in is cold and dry winter and hot summer.
There are wonderful sites available which shouldn’t be missed on a trip to Beijing which include: Lama Temple, Tiananmen Gate and the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, Qian Men, Mao Ze Dong Mausoleum and Wang Fu Jing Shopping Area. [edit text][editors]
