Being English and therefore unable to understand any other language I would have taken this to mean self service, no entry, is that a contradiction?, how can you serve yourself if you are not allowed in, booze I like, I will accept your translation.

Tony, 'sauf' in French should be something like 'besides' or 'out of' - so, this sign actually means 'out of service'. But we Germans see the verb 'saufen' in it, at once... You should ask JP for a proper translation. ;-)
