In 1820 the valley was bought by Alfred Fox, owner of a successful shipping company in Falmouth which was then an important port. The trees were planted at some time during the next twenty years; they seem to have grown a bit! davidx - Mar, 14 2008 12:03pm I forgot to mention it - but if anybody is interested, these Foxes were related to the famous Quaker family of the same name. rangutan - Mar, 17 2008 04:03pm Liriodendron? This looks like the 6 feet of diameter and the corky texture too to meet that type. I will post this this to our up-and-comming photography "THEME:exotic-plants" for discussion. We need a lot of identification help for a lot of our images, wish members would ask and note plant and flower names on their travels....
