In the center of Plaza Major, Maximo Jerez's by eirekay

Leon - Nicaragua, León Maximo Jerez is considered be the greatest Liberal political thinker in Nicaraguan history. He was a leader of the movement towards Central American unity, involving himself in disputes with Costa Rica and ElSalvador, and was, for 37 days, C0-President of Nicaragua. He later died in Washington DC, USA, while acting an an emissary. He holds the place of honor in the center of the main plaza, in front of Cathedral de Leon. the statue itself, as you will see in a close up that I have posted, is rather comical.
