We were a couple of feet from one of the smaller flows. The wind was blowing fairly hard, creating a bazaar mix of hot and cold and at 8,500 feet, the surrounding air was a little chilly.

Being right up against the flows was like sticking your head in an oven. Standing a few feet away was odd though because the wind was cold, the clouds were damp yet the vapors blowing off were hot.
