Rangoon - Burma, Yangon The best way to visit Rangoon's Shwedagon Pagoda is to arrive about an hour or so before sunset and to stay until mid evening, so that you can see the pagoda compound both bathed in the rich, warm tones of the low setting sun, and later illuminated in the evening by artfully positioned electric lights, which brings out the dramatic highlights and shadows that lend much more depth than the natural light can, and remarkably changes the appearance of the myriad statues and ornate wood carvings.
