The institute was established in 1996 by Kikuo Morimoto, a Japanese silk expert that wanted to revive and preserve the traditional Khmer IKAT weaving techniques and styles that suffered greatly under the rule of the Khmer Rouge, and during a visit you can learn about and watch all the steps involved in the weaving process.
