I am willing to co-host a GLOBOmeeting in Munich in summer.
We should choose 10 days, two weekends and the week between them and members can come and go one or both weekends or stay the whole ten days as they wish. I can help with events/tours and finding hotels, hostels or free accommodation with http://www.couchsurfing.org/ Every GLOBOmember should actually be a member there too and if needed start collecting references by hosting some lonely travellers! My profile there is http://www.couchsurfing.org/people/rangutan/
They are very good organisers and we could join them or invite them. I have already "implied" to them that about 20-40 GLOBOs will be in Munich mid-summer....
For cheap flights see http://www.skyscanner.de/ (choose your language and currency)
To nominate dates and show interest please comment below and/or make your marks on this spreadsheet open for everyone to edit: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AqWfJKOnSvMQdE0xTTdZcEdqdjJYLWZGZlR0eEM1MHc&hl=en

Since I have little costs, I am willing to invest €200 in the event and a lot of time. I have place for 2 guests at home.

There are 357 SPECIAL events to choose from in Munich between July and September: http://eventful.com/munich/events?sort_order=Popularity&t=2010070100-2010091623

Hi Rudi,
shouldn't be the period shorter and fixed more exactly in order to make sure that most of the Globies can meet each other and don't miss others because of some days? Don't know if I said this in understandable English - do you know what I tried to say? ;-)
I am glad you took the initiative to organize something, thanks a lot!
See you - Petra

Petra, I thought if some GLOBOs come a long way (like Krys) then we must offer much more than just one day or one weekend! We can make a main date though, Friday night? The idea of the Excell-spreedsheet is to find out when the best weekend or week is for the first few members that are most interested. Then we can fix a MAIN WEEKEND.

I suggest:
Friday night at a beer tavern or Hofbräuhaus? (I have a €200 Gutschein in hand for us :-)
Saturday afternoon swimming and tanning, grilling on the beach at Flaucher till late at night telling stories around Fackel fire.?(bon-/camp-fires not allowed) I have three friends to help with that. Costs are absolute minimal.
Sunday a short tour of something in or near Munich like a train trip to Garmisch and walk to the Partnachklamm? €5 train + €4 entrance per person.
The previous and next week I can show whoever wants to come early or stay longer around Munich and Bavaria. No major costs, ~ €10-20 per day!

I am on early retirement and have a lot of spare time, do some work freelance but that can be scheduled.

Although I agree with Petra in principle, I think Rudi's spreadsheet is essential to select a date most suitable for all members, who would like to come.

I have only been to Bavaria once, in Munich for a short time only, while my connecting flight via MUC was cancelled and I was put up in a hotel in the capital. Given my holiday allowance and plans I have already made, I can only commit specific weekends. I would certainly consider staying a bit longer, if there was something very interesting in the plan, that I could join doing.

I had trouble using the spreadsheet, but I sent Rudi the dates... I hope there will be more members noting their availability there, as I am really looking forward to put faces to names... :)

Kind regards
Krys

Hi Rudi,
your ideas sound great to me! :) Let's hope we can find a weekend (+...) suitable for many Globies. :) Thanks a lot for all your engagement! :)

My mistake, the spreadsheet is now configured for everyone to edit.
An entry in spreadsheet is not binding and anyone may or may not participate as they wish. Changes can be made any-time you want.

Andy has pointed out that the 10th Anniversary is in 2012! Oh well, let us make this an 8th Anniversary, 100th Month Anniversary and a rehearsal for the greater event :-)

I have also indicated to Andy that there are no planned costs for him or GLOBOsapiens. This is possibly and "un-official" activity and all costs are to be taken by the members themselves.
I am sure though that he will join us.

100th Month (8 year) anniversary bash :-)
... at the moment looks like the first two weekend in July or September are most popular. Anyone else still like to show interest? You can also enter your dates in orange ("maybe":-)
We will decide on a date atleast 8 weeks before ie. in May.

Please, don't think of September.

I couldn't get into the spreadsheet, but it really does sound fun. I might not be able to do it in May, but I would prefer a weekend - well at least a three day weekend.

Can't access the spreadsheet. What are the proposed dates?
