Hi Andy, and all GLOBOsapienses

10122 Members right now! Great!

I was just looking through the members list and found out the following statistics:

There are only 713 Members that did collect any other Globosapiens points than for posting their member picture (which means more than 50 points. In other words there are less than 10% of all Members active posters.

Following the Members number by 100 Points:

- 286 Members got more than 100 Points

- 149 Members got more than 200 Points

- 108 Members got more than 300 Points

- 87 Members got more than 400 Points

- 73 Members more than 500 Points

- 62 Members more than 600 Points

- 58 M > 700 Points

- 55 M > 800 Points

- 49 M > 900 Points

So here we have 1.066% of all members that got more than 300 Points, congratulation to all those, what about the other 99%! How can we make them post?

There already is the possibility of collecting points and therfore upgrading your account, what else could be done?

When we talk picture quality, report quality, picture contest.... we always think of 10000 possible posters but above numbers cuts it down to 100

(What would happen if we took out the ones that didn't log in for about a year...?)

Should there be less possibilities for members with only 50 or less points, what else could be earned by being an active member (right to vote 1st on pictures 2nd on reports..., right to chat, right to post in the forum,... being able to see the whole report, seeing travel tips, ...)

Or should the 1% do more to encourage others to post?

Just some thoughts that came to my mind...

It would be interesting to find out the GLOBOstory of the 99% why did they join anyway?

Have fun and keep posting because the community lives of all your posts!

Hey There ya Chunkey Monkeys!!

I was thinking about this too. It seams strange that some members go to the trouble of signing up and sticking ther mug shots up and then not posting anything. I was chatting the other day( for a change) and this guy said he came on to meet women .........hey you know me .......but I mean thats not really why Im here , Its an added bonus hehe ,but he just signed in to score . Seams a bit off to me there should be a clause that says you have to contribute so many points per month otherwise you are in danger of being wipped off the list. that way there would be more room I rekon......but what the hey , what would I know I cant even get mi bloomin pictures to go in the reports Ive written. Anyway that was my tupenceworth.......and yer welcome!!!

see ya soon (probably in the chat room hehehehehe!!)

Hi Andy

I just wanted to make a note on my first post that the findings should be kept in the intern talk section of the forum but cannot access the edit function, I keep getting a error message:

This is a Private Forum. You do not have access to post to this forum.

Generally speaking people hardly ever do anything if they are not rewarded.

It starts at school when we work hard we get better grades. Later on in life when we work harder our salary increases. I don't think people in general are philanthropistst.

That's why I think there should be more rewards, which of course don't cost anything, otherwise it would be impossible for Andy to maintain this website.

I have no idea how to materialise this. Any of you any good suggestions?

Hi Andy

I have some thoughts the other night: How about if you would offer a travel trivia for new members, and for members that not really active.

For members with less of 500 points-eassy trivia with simple trivia questions for example: 1.Where is Lake Baikal located and how deep it

Is? Or.2.In what state of Mexico, Mexico city is located, and how many people live there?

For members with over 500 points-more complex trivia questions.

Rating the answers on 1-5,or1-10 scale, with of course time limits to answer.

Regards,

Boris

I think that a "snowballing" effect has already started and will take care of getting new members itself. Did I mention that I found this site by only planning my next flight to the states? A first glance of options like it is now was important to me, trying it out was uncomplicated, safe and free. Don’t change too much here! Since then I have checked other similar sites and discovered chaos. GLOBOsapiens will automatically expand on the web, please expand the options, list and rewards for 5000, 10000, 50000 and further ACCORDINGLY. Getting people committed once they are here:

- Top 10 members, not 3 shown on homepage!

- new in list of options; Top members last 28-days

- points for rating pictures (quality) with tips to rating

- points for referrals

- themes for pictures, ATLEAST 2: "off-track pics" (scenery&nature) " and "on-road pics"(city&people)

- statement to non-political and non-religious aim

- Top picture/report/etc of the WEEK 01-52 (automatically by popularity and the star system)

- sponsored prizes every month or year (airlines are easy, specially after a best-picture/report)

- steadily increase the field for logged in members (3?) People like to see themselves in a list!

- later, a chatroom option for a private(invite) chat!

- sound and video clips: the world is ready only now for such a website

- MENUS, invites and instructions in other languages. English, regardless of quality for reports/chat/forum should remain and accepted, not a deterrent, rating system already takes care of reports)

- some ideas will follow

Also, my first impression of GLOBOsapiens was that it was for professional photographers and reporters only. That scares one off! Most people don’t know their potential - let’s help them once they’ve joined and appreciate there "inside" and "onsite" information. Even if they are amateurs like me, the point and star systems are absolutely brilliant - takes care automatically of most problems / unwanted members! We want to reward quality but not reject any efforts...

... Oh also, for encouragement to the team, most visitors and members to any website come to GET information, its always a FEW that will talk, write or contribute, thats the case in traditional communities and clubs too! I we can find out what motivates club members, we can help them better here too.

The obvious way to get people to be more active is to offer a reward for reaching a certain goal. I'm not sure what that goal needs to be, but why not offer free airfare for those who do something great?

Now I don't mean a first-class flight around the world, but how about a flight to Las Vegas or Ibiza, or Bangkok? Ryanair in Britain flies just about everywhere, and for a pittance. I've seen flights for 39 euros from London to Rome. For members in North America, there is Westjet (Canada) and Southwest (USA). These two airlines fly for cheap here too. I'm sure members in other parts of the world know if budget airlines in their regions as well.

Another alternative would be to try and plan (and then partially subsidize) a Globosapiens members group trip to somewhere fun, say Ibiza or Cancun, or somewhere else fun.

The bonus is that either of these would get Globosapiens members doing more travelling, and thus adding more material to the website, increasing the draw the site already gets.

Maybe Globosapiens could have a contest where everyone starts on a level playing field and gets judged the same. Maybe Globosapiens could do something in conjunction with one of the tour operators that advertise here.

i very much agree with mortimer ,and on this topic i had posted a message long back asking andreas to remove all the members who havent logged from last three years..

when some one creates a login on this site we expect some sort of contribution to community and not just one timer guest..

some thing must be dome on this ..

I was thinking a little bet more on this topic over weekend. Myself I’m relatively a new member on this wonderful site and this is the only site, I have become a member.

So I would like to share some of my thoughts and ideas.

1. This travel community site is not only for adults, but also for people of any ages!

This is what makes us different from others; let’s say dating sites where the members are restricted only to adult age. And because of this we have an advantage too much more greater possibility to expend.

I haven’t realized, until a few days ago, when I had received a comment on my Lake Tahoe report from Mikey, that we also have under aged kids as our members as well.

http://www.globosapiens.net/mikeygee91

So, I bet many of us have children’s, and to expend, we as adults have to encourage kids like him to be on the site; - to be a full members of our community with their travel kids stories, images and experiences and not to underestimate and discourage our new generation. So, why not to add a kid section to Globosapians, lets say from 10-17 years old.

Where they can compete with images, travel stories, albums and a lot more kids staff

Ones again; - a travel trivia questions? I think it would be in a great benefit to our community and especially to members and families with children’s. The featured images of the month, reports of the month for kids can, and must be posted out with the great honor!

Also presenting award certificates (they can be downloaded, and then printed out by award winners or the stuff), so those certificates can be shared at home with family members, friends and in schools as well. Andy, please accept my advise; - keep a track of every under age account for periodical, lets say, ones a month encouragements through their guest book postings and through their e-mails! Kids, such as Mikey could bring tons of more kids and their families to you site.

2.I do agree with some members that we have to expand image topics from general to

Subtopics such as animals, flowers, times of the year, architecture, people, fun travel images and stories, many others; -some members like to photograph nature more, compare to others who like to image people or architectural wonders.

3.In my opinion-every travel image counts, whether it has ***** star rating or only *

I know, that we have a lot of professionals on the site with great photography techniques, expansive equipment, and also writing abilities. So in the site (for the fun of it) rating can be made also for the “best” bad image or the “best” bed travel report of the week or the month; -it also would push members with bad reports or images to perform better.

I do agree with Farizan, that even low quality images and reports could give us some ideas about the places where people travel and live. I also totally support the idea, that members which are not active for the last 6-month should be deleted from their memberships.

4.I do praise members such as Brit, Martin, Farizan, Ravi,Rudy, Matt and many many others, I don’t know yet, for their motivation, inspiration, advises and of coarse for the best images and travel stories they share with every one of us.
