Udaipur, the Lake City, is famous for its many palaces. The City Palace houses the Crystal Palace, a collection of crystal that includes a full bed and bedroom furniture set once used by Queen Elizabeth II. Stunning mosaic Peacocks adorn the courtyard and a marvelous painting collection fills several halls. Resident artists still paint magnificent miniatures with fine brushes using a single squirrel hair. Take a boat ride out to the Lake Palace, now a hotel, in the middle of Lake Pichola, which has an incredible mirrored salon and fabulous furnishings. The Monsoon Palace sits high on a hill overlooking the city, with beautiful views of all three lakes. The hills contain a number of Temples and Monastries - great for an early morning climb up the well maintained staircases!
