Blossom in June and thousands of berries to feed the birds in the winter. Small nesting birds are protected by the vicious thorns that this shrub has, sparrows are nesting at present.

Tony, what fine fragile blossoms. And they really stink???

Petra, these are really tiny only about 3-4mms across but very prolific, I wouldn't say "stink" but they do have a faint odour of cat pee if you get close enough but this is more than compensated by their ability to produce many thousands of berries from poor soil and attract a lot of small birds in the winter, they look good too!.
