13 – Carthusian Monastery Miraflores's by jorgesanchez

Burgos - Spain It is located at one hour walking distance from Burgos. It was constructed in the XV century The Carthusian Order (Orden de los Cartujos) was founded by the German monk Saint Bruno of Cologne during the XI century. The whole name of the Monastery is: Cartuja Santa María de Miraflores. There are only 24 Carthusian monasteries scattered around the world, five of which are for nuns. The countries where you can find Carthusian monasteries are: Argentina, Austria, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and USA. The two pilgrims featured in the picture are my companions. One of them (with the orange anorak) is Globo member Alfonso Biescas (alfonsovasco). The other one is a journalist called Michelangelo Santos. Because it was forbidden to take pictures with flash inside the monastery (rule that we observed) I only show you outdoor pictures.
