Tristan Island Settlement - St. Helena This wonderful house is the Governor Residence, a marvellous man, really dearly loved (and his wife, who spoke pretty good French, too). He was affectionate and always smiling everyone. The last day in the island he invited all the foreigners, about ten, among them the Pastor, the Doctor and his wife, the chiefs of the Fish factory (they were from South Africa), a French specialist working in the antenna and radar, a German tourist girl, and me. The food was from the five continents. They were so gentle that they prepared food from all the countries represented: wine from France, cheese from South Africa, meat from Germany… and mouth-watering chorizo from Spain!
