Alo, I got ill in 2005 and have only now partially recovered. I am having a rough time in Denia and battling with the heat. It will take a long time till I have big budgets again but with airlines like Ryanair, and using www.skyscanner.com to check prices for each day of the month, i will be doing short trips again. I have collected a lot of good "points" at CouchSurfing.org so that makes it even easier for this poor man to travel again :-) RRG

Hola Jorge,

Many thanks for your kind comments on my recent reports from the holiday in South America. And thank you for taking the time to read them.

I had noted that Brazil was not terribly well covered by our members and there was little recent material. I am planning to contribute a bit more in terms of travel tips as well.

Hey Jorge. finally I have reached Sitangkai. there is a boat 3 times a week now. Bongao is very crowded: lots of plastic rubbish and dirt, blue clouds out of a million tricycles. I really was shocked as we arrived. even the security in tawi tawi is quite stable we often roam arround with armed guards which is not very comfortable but police, army or the barangay chiefs turn it a bit up and send them after you.
Zamboanga is a modern city with 3 huge western style malls, and numerous fast food chains. Basilan is still the hot spot as well as Jolo - not recommendable for foreigners. Isabella the capitol of Basilan was okay and people are friendly.
I hope I find the time to report about here.

I haven't logged into Globo for some time but was inspired to do so after I saw an article about travel on the Spiegel website. I am pretty sure it was you in one of the photos!
