Santiago de Compostela - Spain Although Santiago University is not as old as the one in Salamanca or in Alcalá de Henares, it is one of the oldest in Spain. I was founded in the XV century thanks to our Obispo Fonseca, a very remarkable man who kept apistolar correspondence with Erasmus from Rotterdam. He was a mecenas and promoted art. He had very good relations and even moral authority over our Emperator Carlos I (founder of the Hapsburg dinasty in Spain)
