I am not sure if this is about eking out survival or m,aybe it is just a cultural pin-money generator. There was twenty years ago in Siberia great pride attaching to the production of vegetables in one's own garden. I remember the Director of a branch of Shakstroi a major mine construction company being very energised by the vegetables he had personally toiled to grow. You have this talent to capture little details of imense interest. The portrait including the telling walking stick is like a Great Master. I wonder if a singlr word title might be Babooshka
