I uploaded yesterday one picture of Vologda, called: Heading to Ferapontov Monastery. Perhaps it will bring you memories. I visited the Ferapontov monastery and the wonderful frescoes of the monk Diunisius. That monastery, at about 100 kilomntres distance from Vologda is UNESCO Patrimony of the Humandkind. I had to hitch hike to get there (succesfully!)and in the way back to Vologda a young man who gave me a ride, stopped his car in another beautiful monastery called Kiril, another wonder.
