On Friday 26th August 2005 a new museum was officially opened by the Governor and the Commissioner of Pitcairn Island.
The islanders collaborated supplying many of their artefacts, old maps and photographs which have historical value, to be displayed in the acclimated museum. The cost is 2 US Dollars for the maintenance of the museum, and it is regularly visited by the tourists who manage to land in Pitcairn from their cruises boats.
