Winter came to Warsaw suddenly on the 29 November 2010. Astronomical winter should not arrive before 22 December, but calendar winter in Poland can start earlier, depending on the region. A couple of weeks before, Warsaw was still basking in 18C temperatures, which was considered mild for that time of year. Now, as the snow fell, and a lot of it, everyone quickly forgot about the springtime in the autumn. I was hiding in the hotel when the snow came, but after a couple of cups of tea with rhum, I decided to check how the old town of Warsaw, covered in snow, looked at about midnight. This is a small collection of the iPhone shots, as I jumped over the heaps of snow and snapped happily, before hailing a cab and returning to the hotel for the last cup of fortified tea.
