Liechtenstein has not been a prime tourist destination. At least until recently. Now, the Prince and His government are trying to change it. A tourist information office (very nice one, actually) has been established along the main pedestrianised drag in the capital, to sponsor the country's qualities. And the main attraction of the state are the views of the Alps, and the valley of the Rhine river. There are a few trekking and climbing routes just outside the capital, Vaduz. The architecture is not spectacular, but the two castles - one in the capital and one in Balzers look superb on the background of the snow-capped mountains.
